URGENT: Planning Commission public hearing Aug. 12, 5:30 PM, City & County Bldg. 451 S. State St. Please attend.
What's in the city's plan?
-
New zoning that would expand housing choices for different income levels, different “types” like duplexes and fourplexes, townhomes and other “missing middle.”
-
Encourage housing density. Small dwelling/small lot development
-
Improve walking, biking and transit
-
Protect the foothills and natural environment
-
Strengthen neighborhood commercial areas
-
Improve parks and public spaces
-
Update zoning where warranted

Current Concerns
-
More teardowns of older homes
-
Higher density projects near commercial areas
-
Loss of historic homes and historic character, tree-lined streets, and distinctive architecture.
-
Because of narrow, steep streets, increased traffic, congestion and competition for parking spaces.
-
Uncertainty about the future development of the LDS Hospital site which could result in more density, taller buildings out-of-scale with the neighborhood, etc.
